Agribusiness experts convene for World Food Day event

Top food and agriculture leadership to speak

Malachy Mitchell, MD of Farrelly Mitchell agribusiness consultants, will be joined by Erik Souberian, CEO of Danone Ecosystems and Margarita Astrálaga, Director of the Environment, Climate, Gender and Social Inclusion Division at the International Fund for Agricultural Development on Friday 16th October for the Great Food Challenge live panel discussion.

The discussion entitled, ‘Shifting minds to shape the future food system from farm to fork’, will be preceded by a speech from Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Muhairi, the UAE Minister for Food Security, on the subject, Investing in the Future of Food.

Building a better food supply chain

Major themes of the discussion will be global food security, sustainable agriculture and land use challenges with the experts are set to engage on how to transform the existing food supply chain for the better. Various speaking agenda is likely to centre around how technology, innovation, packaging, consumption, and waste can conspire to create a more resilient and sustainable food supply worldwide.

The ongoing global Covid-19 has brought the event’s agenda into sharper focus, as human food supply has been severely tested in 2020.

Global food and agriculture audience

A global audience of 3,000+ senior attendees from the public, private and NGO sectors will also hear insight into the great potential that exists for Middle Eastern food security and African agriculture and how those two regions can come together to create promising future outcomes.

The panel will also include Viktoria de Bourbon de Parme, Food Transformation Lead at the World Benchmarking Alliance, and Juan Lucas Restrepo, Director General, Alliance of Biodiversity International and the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture.

The digital series will convene and connect key stakeholder groups across the agri-value chain fighting to rebuild a more resilient, sustainable and equitable food system in the face of growing climate and health emergencies.
