Capacity building initiative featured in Ghanain newspaper

The project has a life of 5 years with the objective of empowering up to 5000 SMEs across Ghana with business skills and financial support to scale their enterprises. It is estimated this could result in the creation of over 50,000 employment opportunities for the youth and women by 2025.

The project is targeting SMEs around 3 focal segments that include women-led businesses, agribusinesses and fintech. The training project was managed by the Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Stephen Awuah, of Farrelly Mitchell with over 20 years of experience in developing and growing agribusiness enterprises in the region. Awuah emphasised that the aim of the training was to provide realistic technical and management skills and tools necessary to transform SMEs in Ghana for economic growth.

‘SMEs need innovative technical and management support services tailored to their needs, including coaching and mentoring apart from financing. This is the key to true transformation of the sector for massive employment uptake’ – Stephen Awuah, Regional Director SSA.
